New Health and Cleanliness Protocols for Hotels

Marriott International’s promise of bringing a new level of cleanliness and sanitation to the hospitality industry

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic around the globe, global hospitality giants such as Marriott International are leading the way in adopting new sanitation protocols to reduce the spread of the disease.

In an article posted in Forbes Magazine, President and CEO of Marriott International, Arne Sorenson states, “We are living in a new age, with COVID-19 front and center for our guests and our associates. We want our guests to understand what we are doing today and planning for in the near future in the areas of cleanliness, hygiene and social distancing so that when they walk through the doors of one of our hotels, they know our commitment to their health and safety is our priority.”

Marriott recognizes the realities of operating businesses in the hospitality industry during and after this pandemic.  As a result, they have created the Marriott Global Cleanliness Council, consisting of infectious disease experts and scientists who will help to create new procedures that ensure cleanliness and sanitation are at the forefront of Marriott’s business operations.

In the next few months, new cleaning technologies and methods will be developed and rolled out to combat the pandemic. These will include using the use of electrostatic sprayers and hospital-grade disinfectants which is recommended by the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as the highest grade of disinfectants.

With Marriott’s promise of bringing a new level of cleanliness and sanitation to the hospitality industry, other hoteliers will soon follow suit and begin applying stricter protocols hence making their establishments coronavirus free as soon as stay-at-home orders are lifted allowing for local and international travel to resume.
